Planned Giving/Estate Planning
After providing for your loved ones, you can leave a legacy to law enforcement by making a contribution to The Toledo Police Museum, Inc. through your estate. Planned Giving includes: Will or Living Trust; Life Insurance Policy, Retirement Funds and Funeral Bequests.
Will or Living Trust
All it takes is directing part of your estate to go to the Toledo Police Museum in your will or trust. You can designate a fixed dollar amount or donate a percentage of your estate. There is no immediate cost to you, but it’s a decision that will have a lasting impact on preserving the history of the Toledo Police Department.
Life Insurance Policy
Policies that are no longer needed for their original purpose can be valuable gifts and can result in welcome tax savings. You may name The Toledo Police Museum as a primary or contingent beneficiary of a policy you already own. Or
you can purchase a new life insurance policy and designate The Toledo Police Museum, Inc., as the beneficiary.
After providing for loved ones, you can make a meaningful gift to the Toledo Police Museum from “what’s left” in your retirement accounts, Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs), pension plans, 401(k) accounts and the like.
Your family can request that in lieu of flowers, a donation in your memory be made to the Toledo Police Museum. Memorial bequests can be downloaded here and are available at the museum and area funeral homes.
Because estate planning and tax laws often change, it is always wise to check with your advisors about the best ways to make gifts to the Toledo Police Museum as part of your estate plans.
Purchase an engraved memorial brick for the museum pathway. Two sizes of bricks are available for $100 or $250. Order forms are available at the museum or you can download here.
